The Woodwhiper Shop Apron.

The Woodwhiper Shop Apron.

The Woodwhisper Shop Apron; Over the years I have been trying a couple of different aprons while working in the shop. The one thing I didn’t like was the strap pulling on my neck. I wasn’t a big fan of the leather ones as they were just too stiff for me. I had a cheap one from Home depot that was only a cpl bucks, but it pulled on my neck too much.. So a cpl weeks ago Blondie was cleaning out my work clothes for the woodshop and mentioned about 10 of my T-shirts are trashed from all the wo...

Rockler Clamp Racks

Rockler Clamp Racks

514 days ago by Ken90712 | 12 comments »

Like a lot of us on here space is an issue & you can never have Enough Clamps, LOL. I had made this clamp rack back in Dec 09. Sure doesn’t seem that long ago that I made this project. While it was very effective the spacing was a little too wide and not as efficient as I would have liked. Even with the extra beefy hinges there is a little sagging. One day I will rebuild this whole thing out of stronger wood like oak as pine was just what I happened to have extra at the time. Rockler ...

8 x 72 3HP Jointer from Santa

8 x 72 3HP Jointer from Santa

Santa ( aka Blondie ) was good to me again this year. I have been using a Delta 6 inch Table Top Jointer for yrs. As most of you know that can be a challenge when doing 8 foot boards. After a lot of research we decided on this one with the normal cutter head. Cpl buddies say the Helix can leave lines in the wood. Think this might be myth truthfully, however I can always up grade later if I feel I need to. I have been using the blade method for ever and it has worked fine for me. I thought ...

Set of four Eng Squares

Set of four Eng Squares

541 days ago by Ken90712 | 15 comments »

One of Blondie’s Christmas presents to me was this awesome set of squares. They are an extremely accurate set of squares that are particularly valuable when I’m setting up my power tools. It is boxed set of four Engineer’s Squares. There made by the engineering firm in India. They come a in a So/So box, however the box is not what I was interested in so I couldn’t take a star for that. They come wrapped in plastic with oil applied. There on sale and I’m not sure you...

Hitachi C12RSH Dual Compound Sliding Miter W/Laser Marker

Hitachi C12RSH Dual Compound Sliding Miter W/Laser Marker

I have been kicking around getting a 12 inch slider for some time. I have had my craftman 10 inch basic miter saw for amost 20 yrs. She has served me well but I wanted more x cutting capability instead of using the table saw for long planks. I have had this saw for 2 weeks now and really gotten to get a feel for how she performs. I don’t give out 5 stars easily. I’m hard on my tools but I must say this is a great saw. I was surprised it came with a good quality carbide blade. I...

18 inch monster.

Well Dec was a good month; Blondie gave the approval for me to buy more machines… LOL… I picked up the Delta 18/36 Drum Sander & now this Delta 18 drill press. The box was in great condition, and they brought it into the garage for me. . I also ordered the Biesemeyer fence for her as well. Blondie and I had it together in less than an hour. The only hard part was lifting the head on to the shaft. Once she told me to quit being a whip and lift it, we got it on th...

Delta 18-36 x5 drum sander.

Delta 18-36 x5 drum sander.

First off Thanks to Joe Lydon who introduced me to his buddy Bob that was selling this sander. I mentioned to him I was going to buy one and he told me about a buddy that had one that he never used. I’m not normally good at buying used stuff, but I trusted Joe. Bod said, “If I didn’t like it I could return it for a refund.” (Who does that now a day?) Not a bad deal for used sander. I was shocked how clean this was when I arrived. We agreed on the price and off we went. 5 stars t...

One of the Best books I have read on Wood Finishing

One of the Best books I have read on Wood Finishing

While I try to grow, and become a more experienced finisher I have ran into some roadblocks along the way. Like most of us have, I’m sure. A few Lumberjocks recommended this book by Bob Flexner. I must say I will always keep this book close. Another fellow LJ posted the words below as well and I agreed so I used his review as well. Thx, Jeff. Most everyone would benefit from this book. While this is not a tool, this book has earned its spot as one of my most useful assets in my shop....

SD508 Freud 8" Dado Set

SD508 Freud 8" Dado Set

1284 days ago by Ken90712 | 9 comments »

I was making some candleholders and my Dado Blades were junk and chipping wood on every cut. Then my local Rockler Store sent me a coupon with 40% off any single item excluding Power Tools. Sweet!, I tell Blondie I’m off to Rockler to save some money… LOL…. The set is $199.00 so that’s 80 bucks off. She brainwashed my sometime ago to always look for sales. Another story sometime, LOL…. Man, I thought my Forrest Woodworker 2 Blade was something. This set is more than impressive! Th...
