« Part 4: A bit on the slow side. Part 5 of Random Thoughts series Part 6: Fine Spring Weather »

Well this weekend finds me assembling the big cabinet for Peggie’s closet. This monster will weigh 275 when done. It is not intended to be pretty, it is intended to be functional. So I have spent the weekend with this thing on its back in the floor. It is put together with shelves glued into dados and 11 screws in each shelf holding it to the sides and back. Each shelf has three half lap notches which fit into a half lap notch on the front stiles. At least, after a bit of quality time with a chisel they fit.

Observation 1. I need to find a better way to make the lap joints of the front stiles and shelf rails line up.

Observation 2. It’s a good thing wood filer is cheap.

Observation 3. It’s too bad wood filler isn’t pretty.

Observation 5. I still need more clamps

Observation 6. The combination of the spring bloom (pollen) and standing on your head for several hours gives you a killer headache.

Observation 7. Whiskey is the best liquid ever invented…including wood glue.
