Mason Dixon Hand Cut Dovetail Class

I’m a little late at posting this blog.

On Feb 7, 2009 the Mason Dixon Woodworking club had a Hand Cut Dovetail Class. It was given for no charge and we had a great full class.

We had Al Hendershot. DustyAl

Our instructor was Ed Nock

We had Jack Dalton Sorry no face pictures, he’s wanted in many locations. LOL. Jack is talking to Ed in two pictures above.

My son Dave

And signing the number 1 on his first dovetail.

Now let me tell you.
He cut his first one with me helping. I then cut my dovetail #2. and then i asked him if he wanted to do another.

He went to it. I left to go to talk to others. When I came back he was finished. I looked at it and it needed just a little trim to fit perfectly. (And, I did it for him – Sorry) I should have told him what to do and let him go to it.

The dovetail was great.

The class was great.

At our next meeting DustyAl brought his first box that had all hand cut dovetails. I told him to post it here, but I don’t believe that he has yet.

Send him a message and tell him to post his box.

Yes sir, I posted my box as ordered! lol…

Otherwise, Karson, nice write up on the dovetail class. I expect no less from you for the sanding block class.

I’ve really had a great time at both workshops… picking up skills and information. It’s been a great help.

I’ll need to post some photos of my work on my sawdust room… its coming along. Next project for it is an attempt at face frame cabinets. I figured it would be a good excuse for a Kreg K3 system, so I’m just waiting for the postman now.

Man.. I tell ya.. I wish we had a woodworking group around here that would meet on occasion and hold workshops like this. Maybe I need to start a group around here!

Looks like a great time. I really need to get into dovetails….

How about Karson doing a dovetail blog for us. Just like the session there. We could follow along at home. Whjat about it Karson, you up to the task? Have Dave help you teach us.

I second that Mike. Karson seems to know a lot so let’s see if he can do it…

Thanks for the post Karson.
