4" x 30" V-Drum Sander kit....Build your own Drum Sander!
I saw this link via the wood whisperer website. This company, Stockroom Supply (www.stockroomsupply.com) sells the parts to built a face sanding drum sander. Granted its not the full blown thickness sander, but this method suits my needs better. I teach high school woodshop and I would not feel comfortable letting kids run a thickness sander, but this is a machine that is nearly idiot-proof once it is assembled. It doesn’t squeeze the wood between two drums, it instead mounts just u...
Super Dust Deputy Add on for 4" DC systems
While researching this product, I noticed that there was not a review on LJ’s for this specific model of cyclone. I have a smaller ClearVue Mini and absolutely love it, however there were few choices on the market for cyclones specifically made for the majority of small DC systems out there in the 1-2 HP range. I think that Oneida has something here for that niche market. In fact, I am surprised yet pleased that they made one of these available because it can directly compete with ...
Grizzly H7653. The Best Tool Upgrade You'll Ever Make!
I picked up a Jet-JJCSX off Craigslist a few weeks ago and it was in great shape, except for the blades. They were completely destroyed and it looked as though the previous owner jointed a board full of wood screws. Anyway, after looking costs of the various blades and comparing HSS vs carbide vs how frequently they would have to be changed (which is not a pleasant undertaking) I started looking at the spiral cutter heads on the market and decided to go with the Grizzly for a number of rea...
Keep children and animals away from the ports!
Finally, after many months of moving, new shop set, starting a new job, etc. I have got my Clearvue Cyclone up and running. I’ll run through a bit of my decision process leading to my purchase, then the installation, and finally its performance. Decision I had an average setup; a 1.5hp canister DC connected to a short run of 6” pipe with 4” flex hose drops to each machine. The setup worked well to capture the chips from the jointer and planer, collect the shavings from the TS c...
My New Grizzly Bandsaw
I am in love! I have never reviewed a product and am not rerally sure how to do this but I do have to say that this product has changed and inhanced my woodworking so much. I have 2 blades that I work with; a 1/4 and 3/4 Highland Woodworking Wood Slicer blades that are amazing. I ordered the riser for this saw as well so I do use 105” blades. The setup is so easy. From the table to the fence to the miter gauge, it is so easy to square things up and get perfect cuts. The dust collection ...
