I used a Rockler plan with minimal modifications. I liked the look of a painted horse on a stained base, for the contrast. The base and saddle are oak, stained with Sedona Red.

The store-bought metal stands were worn out after years of use and many users. Stands are solid hickory, pocket-hole joined, with a non-descript laminate top. Finished with natural oil.

Kind of a random mix of wood – some hickory, some oak, some mahogany and some poplar. Nowhere near perfect yet, but I’m getting better each time.

The construction is 1x pine frames, 1/2 mdf panels, and 1/4 mdf scroll work. Lots of fun to build and for a great young family! Most of the joinery is pocket holes.

Dinette table for two young friends who are moving into their first apartment. They want to use barstools and only have room for a small table.

The top is maple butcher block cutoffs laid up and biscuit-jointed. The rest is hickory.

Top protected with three coats of wiping varnish. The whole assembly is sealed with Watco natural oil.

I rather winged this project – no plans. I just started building and let the wood take me where it would. I’m pleased with how it turned out and the girls are thrilled.

Kreg Jig Station

Because I ended up with two Kreg K3’s, I wanted to make a simple, but useful, station for them. This allows me to work more easily with wider material. It also allows me to more quickly work with thinner material, as one jig is set up with the micro drill guide.

Drill bit storage is right up front and very easily accessed. Driver bits are stored right on the top of the base. There is a stop for each jig (though I don’t use them often).

The station quickly clamps in place on my assembly table and I have room under my main bench for storage when this is not in use.

Kreg Clamping and Assembly Table

I wanted a large clamping and assembly surface. I also wanted to use Kreg’s clamping systems. I already have a nice workbench with standard vises, etc.
So, here it is. The top is 4×8. It is laminated with Formica Microdot “Steel”, which is either the same or a very passable match for the laminate Kreg uses. One side of the table has three Klamp Vises spaced asymmetrically. There is a fourth vise on one side. The other two sides use Kreg Klamp Track.
The base is a typical trestle design with mortise and tenon joints and cross dowels at the rails.
My next project will be a set of drawers for the base.
Thanks for looking!
Kevin
