RAS Dust Collection Blues - 3 replies

I wasn’t a fan of the Radial Arm Saw before – I had an old Craftsman that was falling apart and I was always afraid it would blow up in my face so I sold it to someone I hated. Then I got a better one as part of a pile of tools and rather than sell it I rebuilt it and tweaked it so it was running like new and even put it on a custom ...

Jessem Slide Attachment for TS? - 6 replies

I was flipping through a few old magazines last night and saw one from 5 years ago that had a picture of this attachment you add to the side of your tablesaw to make it a silder. I’d never heard of it before but when I googled it this morning I found that Jessem still sells it and just like the ad in the old magazine, their website seems t...

Need a blade recommendation for finger joints - 1/8" - 6 replies

I want to make some boxes with small finger joints – the thickness of a regular sawblade, not 1/4” or fatter so the dado set is out of the question. Looking at all my blades it seems that none of them leave a perfectly flat bottom. I guess some of it is due to the set of the teeth but the amount seems to vary greatly blade to blade. ...

Surface Grinding Plane Soles - Need a pic please - 9 replies

I’m at that sweet nexus where my woodworking hobby, metalworking hobby, and old-tool addiction collide. I now own a surface grinder. I’ve got a few off-name junker planes I’ve been saving to play with – I want to use the surface grinder to flatten the sole of the plane, and for the planes that are beefy enough, I then wan...

Modify my Tablesaw Extension? - 0 replies

I need to make some room in my shop for another large tool. (It’s 26×24, shoulda built it 26×42)I’ve got a Jet cabinet saw with the 5-6 foot extension on the right. (Melamine wrapped in iron?) It’s got a Jessem router lift in it. The only thing it’s missing is a slot for a miter gauge down near the router lift. ...

Help Please - I need a switch like this. - 9 replies

This is a pic of the switch for my Record mini-lathe (approx 15-20 years old). It is inline with the cord, housed in a black plastic box that at one time had two tabs on it for mounting to wherever you wanted to put it on your lathe stand. The switchbox is maybe 3”x2”x2”. Those tabs are broken, the back is broken and won...

Performax 16/32 hook-loop conversion questions. - 7 replies

I just put a new conveyor belt on my performax 16/32 sander and I’m considering doing the hook and loop conversion. I’ve got two questions: 1. Will the grizzly conversion kit work? It’s for a bigger machine so I know I’d have some excess material to cut off, but I don’t know if it matters that they’re made ...
