Part 1: End Table
Just starting on a new project; end table for the living room. Started with a design from Woodsmith magazine and made some changes in size and design. First made a prototype leg out of mahogany. Next step will be to figure out what type of finish to use. Will post a sketch of the end table next time.
Part 2: Sketch
Here is a sketch of the end table. It will have 3 bowed drawers with crotch mahogany veneer. If all goes well I might even try a simple marquetry design for the top.
Part 3: mortising the legs
Finally had most of a day to make a start on the end table. Purchased some thick African mahogany for the legs. Milled the legs down to size (1 3/4” square x 23 3/4” L). Routed the bottoms with a 1/4” round over bit on the router table. Then used the mortising jig to cut 15 mortise holes (1/4” x 5”L).
