I have a dedicated shop in my detached two stall garage. My significant other and I recently purchased our first home, and it was part of what we were searching for. Very, very glad we found it too!

It was recently lifted, new block and slab installed, and all the old 2×4s were sistered. There is already a panel box, with lots of room for expansion too!

This summer (2017) I set to work, roughing in a couple of new outlets, insulating, building the first of two lofts, installing a man door, and putting up wall sheathing. It’s not anywhere near complete yet, but I made a big dent.

Tools wise, I have always bought used ones off CL, etc. Over the last two or three years I have been replacing the ok tools, with better tools. I also do salvage jobs and basement cleanouts every once in a while, specifically to look for old tools to restore. That is how I picked up most of my hand planes.

The shop is a never ending project, but it’s also one of most most proud builds. It has taken years to get to where I am. Every time I’m in there, it reminds me of where I came from and where I’m going. It’s a sanctuary and my “Happy Place”. Plus I get to use all of my tools, whenever I want!

Great space! I really like the look of that old wood. Keep on working on that shop! Before you know it, you’ll be done and building fantastic projects in there :-)

Thanks Pete and Charles! Projects are underway, just nothing finished lately. Lots of sawdust flying though.

Thanks GR8HUNTER, I will!

pottz, I completely agree! It’s that whole “journey vs. destination” aspect. I’m loving the journey.

Great job! I think I have enjoyed working on my shop as much as anything I have ever built….When I first started out I bought some tools that I felt were of a “C” quality, and I replaced them with “B” or “A” tools. When you get a new cool “A” tool…you really appreciate it! Good job…keep us posted!
