Walnut
Just thought I would post my disbelief of what I just found on Craigslist. A big walnut tree that the owner is giving away claims good lumber or is going to become firewood – Can you believe that?

After trying to come up with a hobby to try and occupy some time, I decided to try woodworking. My experience as a machinist over the last decade gave me some insight on how to accomplish a few tasks. I like building stuff with my hands, and woodworking seemed logical. I am still very much considered an amateur, but I can live with that.
I have a basic shop minimalistic shop set up now in my basement. Since I have it in my basement, and no dust collection system worth mentioning, ( a small 3 gallon shop-vac) I have been keeping dust and noise to a minimum in order to keep safe. Naturally, I don't do any staining or painting in the basement, that is reserved for better weather. I have goals of turning my garage into a more permanent setup, but right now it lacks sufficient power and weather resistance.

squareness #1: Math doesn't add up
I just upgraded my craftsman fence to a Delta T2 system and the install went very well. The blade on this old machine is within .008 to the miter, and the fence is within .002 TIR to the miter which are both within reasonable limits for my project...
