For the first project of 2014 on JordsWoodShop we will be making a simple yet beautiful dining room table with matching bench seats.

In this video I we begin the project by making the massive table top.

As an FYI. I did a table very similar to this about two years ago for a customer. I originally made the bench legs just as you have them modeled. After about a week of using the table and benches the customer realized the design she insisted on for the benches was not good. The benches were to easy to tip over. I had mentioned this several times prior to building but she insisted. Well, long story short, I made two new bench supports (the bench tops were fine) with legs that were angled out some to eliminate the tipping over issue.

Just my opinion, but try a prototype of the benches with the leg design you have prior to doing a production run. You might change your mind and angle the legs out some to make them more stable.

This is just my humble opinion based on some experience. Please don't take it the wrong way. It is not meant to be critical of your work.
