Paul Sellers is very much on a mission. His mission is to put the emphasis back on building true artisan woodworking skills and to change the focus from what woodworking has become. I’ve seen a lot of video on woodworking and watched a lot of TV shows on woodworking and I can’t think of anyone who does a better job teaching woodworki...

Bow Saw Questions - 3 replies
Reading The Seven Essentials Of Woodworking by Anthony Guidice. In this book he advocates using a Bow Saw made in Germany that uses a wire and eyebolt to tension the blade. The blade he recommends is a 28”, 5 point per inch blade made by W. Putsch. Has anyone used such a Bow Saw? Where can such a saw be purchased?

Setting accurate angles on a bench grinder - 2 replies
Is there something available commercially for a bench grinder that’s more versatile than having to use this approach? http://www.inthewoodshop.com/WoodworkTechniques/AngleSettingJigForDryGrinder.html Or this one that only allows a few angles: http://www.veritastools.com/products/Page.aspx?p=173 This is the only thing I’ve...

Has anyone used one of these? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aWze4UM32U&feature=player_embedded I’ve got a bunch of used maple butcher block tops that I need to resurface that are filled with 1/8” deep dents. Alternative to using shims with a shooting board - 6 replies
I’ve recently watched a David Charlesworth video called Precision Shooting Simplified where he advocates using shims to get stock to be square. I can see using shims as a last resort but not as my first choice or my only choice. Is there a viable alternative to using shims when using a shooting board? The only alternatives that I can th...

What is the v-notch used for in this saw horse? - 8 replies

Hand Planes In The Workshop With Mario Rodriguez - 3 replies
Of all the woodworking videos I’ve watched so far I think I’ve gotten more from this one than all the other sharpening and planing videos combined. I really like his practical no b.s. approach which seems far more real world to me than other plane and sharpening videos I’ve seen. I wonder if others have seen this video and feel...

Router Lift Questions From A Woodworking Newbie - 16 replies
I’m a CNC machinist by trade. I’ve been one for over 15 years. I’d like to know the answer to the following question I have: Is there a router lift sold that will let me set a router bit to a preset height so I don’t have to take a test cut when I change router bits? If not is there a router bit presetter sold that wou...
