It really doesn’t need any comments, the pictures speak for themselves…

It’s a lifetime dream to be able to work on a piece like this… without having to paid for the slab and, in addition, being payed big bucks for it (I guess).
On the other hand, what a source of stress though. I bet it is really nerve-wrecking until the slab is sliced and dried out.

I had seen that web page before but I lost track of it. A great challenge. And a super commission.

Same here Karson, I recall having stumbled upon it a few years ago but lost track and find it again today. Amazing work of art—and not only this table—.

That is impressive. Thanks for sharing the link. Wonder what his commission was for producing such a usable work of art.

....or; can you saw a spelled slab with an ‘maebiki-ooga’ !
Hello Jojo;
—-and yes great slab there, I believe I’ve seen this one before, but then I sometimes lose the links….thanks!!!
And yes, I’m still wondering about any pictures or knowledge that you may have about the ‘maebiki-ooga’, or Big Saw? Like can you get these over there in Japan and have you ever ‘saw’ (punning is in-tended) these in use? I’m also interested in any information you might have on the two man ‘oga’ which to my understanding is really the ‘big saw’.
As we know, any big slab worth it’s weight in wood, deserves a really big saw….
also;
here’s an-other picture:

Thank you.
