What a beautiful concept, this idea of doing what is right.

Yes, I have often thought how much simpler, less expensive and more pleasant life would be if people could follow one simple rule: honesty. Why is it so difficult?

why so difficult? Because we have fought for the right to sue. Oh you just had to get me started!!
”Oh I slipped on the ice in front of your house. I didn’t know it was slippery. I didn’t know that I might slip on ice. I didn’t know that there is ice on the ground in the winter. And now I have a broken fingernail and emotional trauma. I want $500,000. and you pay for my lawyer. Yah”.

Ok. done.

It all starts with one. I can act differently. I can teach my family about acting differently. I can BE the difference. I can make a difference.

Jojo, sounds like an environment everyone should experience in their lifetime. Who knows what would happen if we could all be immersed in that lifestyle for a few years.

My hometown used to be that way, until the Great Alberta Oil Boom. Now we have every &#$%head imaginable in this province.

Thanks, Jojo, somehow your post is discouraging when I think of our western society. I wonder what ever happened to the Christian values we once endorsed? I’m not too old to remember life used to be like that here.

Don, our values made non-Christian’s uncomfortable, and the liberal wieners in gov’t didn’t want to offend them. So we took God out of everything that might. Now, before I get bashed, my family is made up of Catholics, Pentecostals, Baptists, Muslims, and two Budhists. I have nothing but respect for religious people of all faiths. I have nothing but disrespect for people that feel that we have to compromise their faith in order to make visitors feel more welcome. That’s just dumb. Oh, and sorry to hijack this. If I offend, please send me a private message.

Well I’ve got to say I can think of two different lumberyards close to me that have their wood just sitting out in the yard. If you need some lumber over the week end just leave them a note and pay up on Monday. There is a little bit of honesty left in America. Small town America that is.

Nice Ethan. I’ve picked up wood at a sawmill before after driving an hour and the owner not being there. And I make it right when I come back.

Hello to all;
....I could not pass this one by so please read with viewer discretion advised....

—-before God be-came a christian, what value was he….?

—-if God is as big as some say he is, I mean those who say he created us, how then can we as his creation, take him out of any-thing….be that out of their own person, school, land, government, nations or religion….etc? And if this God we speak of is one who fills all, ‘all in all’, how could I even not find him in hell or heaven? It seems to me that those who say others took God out, are excusing themselves and pointing the finger at other’s….I mean, if I am big enough to take God out of any-thing….may-be I should say that I also created God!

—-is God sovereign or non-sovereign?

And no, no-way am I thumping on any here….just as neither am I bashing any….gave up my bible thumping many, many days ago. But I do love dialogue and communication, whenever or wherever I like to talk. So to any, I am not offended by what has been said, just wanting to probe further….and if I have offended any by what I have said, well you have my permission to just hit the button and annihilate me.

Now we’ve really went and hijacked your blog story here, Jojo….and so pardon my in-trusion if I have walked where I should not have.
Thank you.
GODSPEED,
Frank

No way Frank, I’ve loved every single word ou your post. Yeah, at risk of upsetting others I shall say it: ”Hello, my name is Jojo and I am an atheist”. But, much like Frank I do love discussing things, be it divine or terrene and I respect all the opinions. Can’t remember now who was that said “I disagree with you but I will defend with my life your right to disagree with me”, or something along the lines.

Anyway, I love to see that a simple blog post like this can evolve into something so distant and so interesting. This is the true spirit of a community and what I love most about LJ. Friends talking wood but who are so well together that don’t necessarIly need to be exclusively talking wood to enjoy their time together.

Regarding the existence of this sort of trust in America I also experienced this in a farm selling their products in a roadside stand. Amazing people because they were christian jews (at the time I didn’t know that was possible). At the farm entrance there was (is?) that makeshift booth with a fridge loaded with eggs, lots of veggies piled on a countertop, flowers in vases, and the cookie jar for the money with a price list attached. Meanwhile they were working in the fields and at sunset they came to pick up the unsold goods and the money. Small Town America did you say?

Hi Jojo;
—-this is blogging at it’s best!

We also operate a small time farm, (small-time and small-town and I like it that way) were we sell some of our fruits and veggies to any and all who come along the way….

We have a sign posted on the porch giving an order of sorts, to what is currently being sold, directions to where the pickings may be found and price, along with this heading spelled out….Honor System, if we are not around, please leave money in can and if you need change, change is in the can.

I all-ways figure that if someone takes and doesn’t pay, well I guess they needed it more that I….

GODSPEED;
Frank
