Part 1: Before it's to Late!

01-21-2013 11:00 AM by JohnnySplinterfinger | 1 comment »

So, since I have been watching Steve Ramsey, Matthias Wandel, and various other YouTube woodworkers for the last few years while tinkering about with what I would call mini-projects, I figured I’d try out the whole public showing of a project from beginning to end. Today starts with a mock-up of Ana White’s – Doll Bunk Beds for American Girl Doll and 18” Doll. Within this last week I’ve only just begun working with Sketchup as a means of doing a rough out of w...

Part 2: As the blade turns...

Okay so after a minor mishap (which is why I’ll forgo the pictures on this entry) involving my trusty dusty circular saw, I don’t really have an update to post on this project. However I’ve now pretty much set into motion the final notch in my fing…er I mean journey into the wonderful world of buying an entry level hobby type table saw. Why, why, why, why, WHY do I think of all the best ways of doing stuff after I’ve already blown apart my first idea? It’s like I can see the future every freakin’ time, but it has to be fueled by making a mistake though. So, hm… taking this thing apart might be a bit of a challenge at this point. Unless I misread the Titebond label about set time…last night. ahem Well then, right-o… I’ve got the fix for this. No, not really, but I’ve m...

Part 5: "Operation Tiny Mattresses"

So after a couple more botched attempts at staining since my last blog update I went out and got some Krylon Brown Leather and this is what I have now…. What have I learned you may be wondering? Well you’re probably not wondering, but I am. Lets See: Since I’ve started my endeavor of posting and keeping a blog on projects I actually got one (near) done. Building even something cheesey (well I think it is) like this makes me feel good. I use far to many int...

Part 6: The Finale

02-03-2013 12:59 AM by JohnnySplinterfinger | 3 comments »

Considering the room is filled with other toys, and this one kept getting played with over the others, I’d say this was a success. Birthday girl seems to like it. Today is a good day to be alive. This is why I do things.
