These are some of the snow flakes that I made from some scrap cedar just before Christmas. I followed the method that Steve Ramsey posted in his video over on woodworkingformeremortals.com and got it right on the first try. I spray lacquered most of them and painted one or two. They really do make nice gifts and I am sure I will be making a bunch more for next Christmas.

I made this as a Christmas gift. See my blog for full details. The barrel is a simple turning painted with black Rustoleum. The one inch dowel goes completely through the barrel. The sides are 3/4 plywood scraps and the wheels were recycled from wagon. The axle is a 3/8 dowel and the axle pins are 1/8 barbecue skewers. The rest of the paint is Behr’s exterior.
