Born in Fayetteville Tennessee, grew up in Houston. Attended Cy-Fair High School at the nortwest edge of Houston. Got a chemical engineering degree from Georgia Tech and a law degree from Univ of Houston. Worked as an inhouse lawyer for DuPont, in Wilmington DE and retired about 6 years ago.

I began working wood as a young adult and had a Craftsman table saw and a Craftsman radial arm saw. Both died/fell into disuse as life got busy. We lived in a condo in Lewes, a beach community, for 5 years and I bought another $200 contractor's saw that I could set up in the parking lot to do projects. We finally have a house with a 22'x17' room in the basement which I willl turn into a proper shop.

Through craigslist I bought a 2hp Grizzly dust collector from a very nice dentist in New Jersey who was retiring from his practice and woodworking because of failing eyesight. My uncle gave me his old Craftsman radial arm saw which I rehabed. I bought an old bench top drill press in an online auction held up in Connecticut. I got the drill press, a bunch of vices and an air compressor for $300 total. It is going to cost me $1000 more by the time I get everthing trucked to a terminal an hour away for me to pickup. I should have cut my losses, per my wife, and let the rigger who picked the stuff up without my approval and charged me $400 for picking it up and palletizing it, keep it all. Maybe this whole thing will be the subject of my first attempts to blog.

I look forward to getting back into woodworking. My first project, as I build my shop, will be a garden gate. Maybe one day I can claim the title of lumberjock. I look forward to it.

I found lumberjocks.com while looking for reviews of cabinet saws and found the community so supportinve, I had to join in the fun. I look forward to learning from all of your shop layouts and experience.
