Bench dogs and vise question - 3 replies

When putting hole(s) in a workbench for bench dogs, how deep ? all the way through ? what is the standard or normal practice ? AND Placing faces on a bench vise, what is a good material to use to hold wood still ? wood ? hard/soft ? Is leather or some other material good to use ? Thanks in advance

Markings on old rules ?? - 17 replies

On some “old” rules there are little marks at about every 19.25 inches. A friend had told me that someone had told him what they were used for but he had forgotten their exact meaning. Grinding Wheel Balancing with OneWay System - 4 replies
