Location: Aldergrove, B.C., Canada

I am a retired pharmaceutical scientist who was a Professor at the University of British Columbia for 30 years. About 5 years ago I retired (now I am a Professor Emeritus) and I took up woodworking and I fell into love with wood turning. At that time I purchased a VicMarc 300 VL longbed lathe and I was hooked within days.

My current challenge is to learn how to deal with "flat wood". While I enjoy turning immensely I need to improve my skills sufficiently with flat wood that I can join two pieces of lumber together and obtain a square. It seems to me this should be straight forward but for now I am generating a lot of scrap.

Maybe in time....

I love making sawdust.
