Hello Everybody,

Just joined here and wanted to introduce myself. Just moved to the NC area recently. Spent years on boats in many places around the US, and still enjoy sailing and scuba diving when I get the opportunity. At one point, did lots of interior design and installation of woodwork on boats, especially OLD ones. I often carved mermaids and pirates and skulls on boat tillers and wheels which kind of led me into carving full time. For the last 18 years I have focused on creating hand carved wooden chess sets pretty much full time, my own designs and custom sets based on customer ideas.

Came upon the Lumberjock website and enjoyed browsing through the gallery. Because I carve for a living, it sometimes turns into a ‘daily grind’, seeing other people’s woodwork, listening to questions and asking questions myself from my peers is not only inspiring but brings back a lot of the fun that I sometimes miss.

I look forward to meeting you folks and I hope I can be an active member in your community.

Cheers!

Jim

The more carvers we have the better…..Welcome to LJ’s
I have enjoyed carving for 3 years now and it has become an everyday practice. Hopefully someday I will be a master carver.

Of course you’ll be welcome here! This is the finest and friendliest site on the net. Your projects are wonderful and eye candy for beginner – advance wood worker/carver. Speaking of eye candy, if you have a chance, find Andy’s box of chocolates or a list of the winners of the winter YinYang contest..

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Welcome to the community! I too live in NC, but at the opposite end. We should connect some time and do some sailing.
