Workshop Information

Location
United States
My shop is 1/3 of a 3 car garage. It is based on a Shopsmith Mark V purchased about 25 years ago when the workshop was only about 12 square feet at the end of an apartment's single car garage. We subsequently purchased a couple of homes and I now have a workable space. Other stationary tools include a Jet 14" band saw, dust collector, DeWalt R.A. saw, chop saw, drill press and a Shopsmith 4" jointer. Bench tops include a scroll saw, 4" and 1" belt sanders, and a home built router table. Hand powers include three routers, a couple of electric drills, R.O. sander, 1/4 sheet vibrator sander, detail sander, jig saw and a Skillsaw. I've managed to accumulate some of the better Veritas and Woodcraft hand tools; chisels, spoke-shave, a couple of small planes, hand saws and most of the other hand tools that one accumulates.

All my shop cabinets and benches are built from sturdy dimensional lumber, they also serve as places to do all the house chores that need to be accomplished-like lawn mower repair, occasional vehicle and appliance maintenance, painting-along with project building.

Past projects have included some furniture, home built-ins, home deck, kitchen remodel, garden storage shed, garden gate, desk and file cabinet, some office desk fixtures, picture frames and as you can see by one of the pictures, I'm presently in the process of making a 16' cedar strip canoe, which occupies the 2nd third of my garage right now. I Hope to have it finished by summer for some lake fly fishing.

Thanks for looking.

I am always jealous of those with a dedicated space. Very well organized and that canoe project should keep you busy for a while. Look forward to seeing more photos as your project progresses.

Welcome to LJ's. Lots of good folk here willing to offer their vast experience.

Very nice space and thanks for sharing it with us. I too have a Shopsmith Mark V at the center of my shop and have been pleased with it since 1987. Scott
