My name is Jeff Starr. I have enjoyed art in a variety of mediums all of my life. I didn't happen upon engraving until a couple of years ago. I had just returned home from serving with my guard unit in Iraq and was waiting a few months before I could get back into school at ASU where I am studying Industrial Design. I saw examples of gun stock engraving and fell in love with this art form. I knew it was something I could learn, so I bought and engraver and started practicing on everything wood I could find.
Now I feel the engravings I have produce are turning out quite well. My dream is that one day I can earn my dollar with my engravings but now I am just trying to get through school and take the engraving as it comes. It is a hard market to tap into, so much is word of mouth and finding the right target market. And to really get excited about this you really need to see the work in person as you know pictures rarely can do a good project justice, this is especially true with the fine detailing involved with engraving. I hope you enjoy my work. Feel free to contact me by email at starrman20@yahoo.com for any questions. I really enjoy the fun friendly atmosphere here on Lumberjocks and appreciate all of your compliments, feedback and advice.
