Well all, life is as life does. I was down in Iowa with the hubby and it just wasn’t working. Our daughter has a complex heart defect and will be getting another surgery in the next few months. She has to gain about five more pounds before her shunt starts to struggle. Among other reasons, I wanted to be closer to her doctor, who is out of Children’s Minneapolis. So I moved back to Minnesota. She is doing excellent, so don’t worry. Her brothers are doing well, also.

I am happy to be spending the summer caring for them and crafting. I have begun to carve wood and lino blocks for printing. What a learning experience. My hands are all sliced up :P but it’s been fun. I also have been doing some gardening. I am putting together some raised beds and I will post them here once I get them looking photo-worthy.

The hubby, who is still down in Iowa, has since been able to do more in the shop. Good for him. I like to see him doing what he loves. You all should tell him (wouldi is his name on here) to post some of these things he’s working on! It’s been an adventure being apart, not all of it good, not all of it bad, but we’ve been able to look at things differently and perhaps that’s what was needed all along.

The hubby was featured on Mod Mom Furniture: http://modmomfurniture.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-04-17T10%3A10%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=10

Thanks, Kiersten!

So it’s finally creeping up on summer and I am REALLY loving gardening. I am excited about placing my raised beds! Thanks to all the others who made some and posted on here! Without you all, this would have been a lot harder for me! :)

Happy making!

Hi! I was looking forward to spending more time crafting this year, but we were hit with a suffocating economy and our daughter’s medical costs. We had to relocate for various reasons, housing costs, job availability, health coverage, general survival and happiness…However, we had to give up a few things: Like the shop! And studio space! But, there are more important things in life and they all call me Mom.

I did finish my bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and my last class was a really relaxed 3-D design class which I had a lot of fun and got to work the wood everyday! I made several sculptures, all non-functioning art pieces (a requirement), which I will have to post at some point.

So now we’re in a more manageable place in life and starting to put things back in order…My husband (Oh yeah, we got married!) found work and I am doing the home-maker thing. Our dear little baby is better off at home than in daycare. I am tackling my writing career from home and going back to school so that I can eventually provide enough for my husband to pursue full-time woodworking. I will also never give up making things.

While this move has been a set-back, we are optimistic…Hey, it’s life!! And I hope to be posting more projects soon!

I also won a T-shirt for voting in the recent Lumber Jocks contests! Sweet! It’s nice to get something unexpected…Lots of great entries…Congrats to all the winners!
