So, here’s my shop… 530 s.f. of love. It’s nothing special, but it’s mine. There are still alot of works in progress, but it’s coming along little by little.
Main machines consist of:
- Grizzly 10” TS w/ cast iron router table extension
- Woodtek 6” jointer (had a 8” Yates J-131(?) but it finally died; still waiting to get time to fix it)
- Ridgid 13” planer
- Woodmaster 38” drum sander
- Delta 14” bandsaw
- Woodmaster 8hp dust collector
- Dewalt 12” miter saw
- 5 1/2hp, 60gal compressor (don’t remember brand)
- Ridgid oscillating edge belt/spindle sander
- Ollllllllddddddd Delta/Rockwell drill press
- Chang Iron 3 1/2hp shaper
- Panel Pro panel saw
Other notable tools include:
- Freud 3 1/4hp, Milwaukee 1 3/4hp, and Bosch Colt routers
- WorkSharp 3000
- Mix of old Stanley and new Lie-Nielsen planes
- Arsenal of nailers/staplers (Porter-Cable & Senco)
- Milwaukee 14.4V drill/driver & Makita 18V impact driver
- Truckload of various other hand/power tools
The compressor and dust collector are in a seperate, insulated room to keep the noise down to a tolerable level. The layout of the machine area is pretty compact; I just re-arranged it this way. I gave up production cabinetmaking to focus on fine furniture, and most of the pieces I make are fairly small: wall/display cabinets, tables, modest entertainment units, etc… Over the years I’ve learned how to streamline my work to require less space. One way I’ve done this is by making larger work modular.
Some of the work I have completed recently has been of Arts & Crafts influence, as well as Asian inspired, though I prefer to work in the modern aesthetic. I will try to get some projects posted soon…
Regards,
JM

Very nice. Great sander!
Have you thought of painting those walls white. It would brighten up the place.

Hey guys, thanks!
Gary – I have thought about it, and that’s as far as I got. Probably will do something like that in the fall.
Tim – the sander is pretty great. There are a few nuances I’m still getting used to, but it does a great job. I wish the infeed/outfeed rollers were a little more substantial, and perhaps folded down when not in use, but that is just me being picky.

Very nice shop. Obviously the sander gets a lot of attention. It looks like you have plenty of room and the tools to get the job done. Your shop is well organized and has an efficient layout. I also like you sheetgoods storage area as well.
thanks for sharing.

I see in the last photo that you have a few of the 10’ or 12’ clamps leaning against the wall. They’re tough to store, but great when you need them!
Nice shop!

Jarrod, this is really a great shop in the space the that you have. Very efficient. How are the PVC air lines holding up. I have thought of using PVC but wasn’t sure how the lines would hold up under the pressure.

Nice shop Jarrod, and really nice projects. Before this, the only thing I ever heard about Taos in my life was about the “Hum”.
