Amazing how much fun you can have learning something new! The Knights are next – sheesh – I have no idea how I’m gonna do those yet…

With perhaps rare exceptions chess knights are not turned (maybe the bases) Steve Carmichael did the ones for Steve Ramsey and I asked him about them. He did them on the bandsaw. He has a nice blog entry on it outside of Lumberjocks. His blog entry is [here].

Hi Dave. I’ve been experimenting with a couple of different approaches to keep them on the lathe. (several prototypes currently in fireplace…) The knight profile cut on a scroll saw – after turning. Then some creative dremel, filing, etc.

I’ll post as soon as I’ve satisfied with the design. Thanks for watching, and for your input!
