I found some great maple hidden in this headboard. Maple from this salvage, GREEN poplar from the mattress salvage, and some walnut from an old sofa salvage will turn into some cool looking salt and pepper shakers :)

I was just thinking about the headboard pieces you cut off. The turned pieces can be re-mounted and turned into something else as they are fairly thick to start with.
