Weekend Whatever

Its been a busy weekend so far. I decided to rearrange the shop, moved all my wood storage out of the way, added a assembly/job cart, started a blanket chest, and a stool/kid bench. I have a bad habit of starting too many projects at once.

I found a 42” sink base cabinet made out of oak that was going to the trash. I couldn’t resist. I had to grab it. I put a rabbit on some 2×4s to sit inside the base frame and added some casters. Then I found a piece of 5/8” OSB that has been in my way for months. Cut it to size for a top and now I have a very handy assembly cart/job cart. Its nice to have a rolling cart to hold all the project pieces as they travel from machine to machine. I have started 2 projects with this setup and absolutely love it.

I also completed the skeleton of another blanket chest. Im recording most of it so hopefully I’ll have enough to make a video showing how easy it is to make one. Complete pocket hole construction and false panels. Nice easy entry level project.

And last but not least a step stool/kids bench. My neighbor wanted me to build his wife a small step for her to reach her upper cabinets. I saw a similar design on a YouTube video and added some changes. The legs have a routed base and are tapered up. The whole project was done with about 6’ of 1×12. I have been recording a bit of it too. Maybe a short little video.

Well its going to be an extended weekend this week as I am off from my day job until the 2nd. Time to take a break and head back to the in-laws to try and salvage more wood :)

You need to have multiple projects going at the same time or you’ll be doing nothing while the glue dries. Good salvage. Have a happy new Year.
