My shop is a converted living room, dining room, and kitchen. My lighting choices are quite limited. I decided to go with some “daylight” curly CFL bulbs. Check out these before and after shots. Holy-moly I can see!!! These are only 23w bulbs but man what a difference. The pictures don’t do it justice.

My shop has only 2 lights in it and not enough circuits to plug in too many lamps. A couple of 150w equivalent cfls made a lot of difference.

I’m with ya on the cfl’s bro. When we moved here years ago I decided to build a 30 X 40 pole barn and pour a concrete floor as my workshop. Remembering all the times I had to replace those 4’ flourescent bulbs in my last two garage-workshops, I decided to use just a few standard screw-in fixtures and plain old 100wt bulbs.
Then I heard about the CFL’s and started replacing the 100watters a few at a time.
Now (6 years later) I have 25 lights spaced out in my shop, using 23watts each instead of 100watts each. They put out very little heat and I havent had one go bad yet. I use the ones in the blue package which are supposed to be the whitest light in that style bulb.
I have also converted almost all the “regular” bulbs in my house to the CFLs.
