Got seriously into woodworking after I retired. I spend half of my time in the works shop and the other on the golf course. Most of my projects are furniture items that I give away. I have three married daughters with small children so I have made nursery items as well as things like outdoor patio furniture, tables, mirrors, microwave carts, etc. etc.

I noticed the recent comments about jointers. I just added a 6 inch Jet jointer (model JJ-6CSDX) and it does a great job for a medium priced machine ($800). For most projects a 6 inch jointer is adequate. I have a friend who is a contractor and does a lot of work designing custom woodworking and kitchens. He has both a 6 inch and an 8 inch jointer but he seldom finds a project that absolutely requires the 8 inch jointer. I agree with those of you who suggest getting the best woodworking machines you can afford because it has been my experience you get exactly what you pay for.

Jerry, I saw your post about bandsaws. I’ve been shopping for one myself. How do you like you G0555? Any drawbacks? It’s on my list to check out.
