Ambrosia Maple Wine Balancer

My niece wanted a quick gift for a girlfriend. Rockler has this ambrosia maple on sale so I picked up a board. She got this and a votive holder. Very simple project, but I really like the look of the maple. The finish is just boiled linseed oil. Top coat will be poly or shellac but she gets to put that on :-)

With days to spare!

My sister wanted a “large” cutting board. She’s getting one! Walnut and Maple (that was salvaged from a 100 yr. old piano). It weights 17 lbs. and measures 17×18 x 2.75 so I thought I’d better make a smaller mate that would be easier for smaller, everyday jobs.

I found out that there would be a couple of extra people joining the Christmas celebration so I added a couple of more to the list. The third pic is a board of the piano maple and the fourth is purpleheart and the same maple.

Just found these pics of the first box I made a few years ago. It was going to be a humidor but I think I messed up on how to do the lining so now it’s just a box. Nice to come across the old stuff every now an then :-)

3 Bud Vase from Wood Magazine

Just finished this as a birthday gift. The design caught my eye so I thought I’d give it a go. Haven’t build anything from plans before so it was a good learning experience. The woods are birdseye maple and walnut. The vases are from Target (harder to find than I thought).

The magazine shows it with rocks and flowers, I am thinking the sticks w/scented oil or oil candles.

Sorry for the 2nd pic. It shows upright when I pull it up on the computer but not here…

votive holder

Hello All,
First project posted….done some other stuff but absolutely a newbie here. Made this as a Christmas gift. It is curly maple and walnut. I think the square votives are too large for the holder and I’ve ordered some smaller ones and I will probably recess those a bit.
