Does anyone have any good sites to go to for a basic woodworkers vise. The long one that you mount to the bench with a huge block on one side. Maybe its called a Swedish screw vise?? About 12-24” long. When you see a really nice work bench, it will usually have at least one of these. I would like to build another bench of different woods, huge dovetails etc.. I remember seeing them for sale somewhere, at a good price, other times you’ll see a similar one for ALOT more.
any suggestions on where to look? thanks…

I got one off of eBay for like $10. Not the prettiest thing, but the threads were in good shape, and that’s all that mattered to me. From what people told me, you want one at least 1 1/2” thick. Good luck!

You could do a search for a Record 52 series bench vise. Garrett Wade carries a well-made copy of the same and it is affordable. Expect to spend Northwards of $100 for a Record in any kind of condition and up to $200 for a good clean and well cared for example.
Personally, I’ve built my bench with ONLY wooden bench screws. They are quite effective and cool to look at too. Anyway, good luck with your search.
