Workbench Finish? - 17 replies
Sometime ago I came across a recipe of BLO, Turpentine and Beeswax for a workbench finish – I just can’t remember the ratios. I have used it in the past and I like the results, but beware the stink….. I am thinking it was probably equal parts BLO and Turpentine and a handful of shaved Beeswax, but not sure? Anyone? Th...

Cool $25 Craigslist Find...... - 13 replies
An old Stanley brace and 16 auger bits + a very old tool box. This gentleman I bought it from was 71 years old and the tools belonged to his wife’s grandfather who died in 1951. The brace is marked as No. 911 12in. (I think) and the newest patent date is 105 years ago….and it works good. The toolbox is just pla...

Radiator Covers? Looking for input. - 5 replies
A good friend of mine is in the habit of buying old homes and fixing them up for rentals. His wife wants “covers” or more specifically “shelves” built over the top of old radiators. Wood Gloat Gone Bad - Help! - 22 replies
Long story short – my dad and his friend found a guy on a farm in northern Minnesota with huge stash of hard Maple. Didn’t have much more info than that, except it was $1.00/bf. They asked if I wanted some since they were on their way to pick some up so I now have 50/bf of 8/4 and 50/bf of 4/4. It was stored outdoors, stickered,...

Enclosed dust box on router table - 7 replies
I just built a new router table and yesterday I installed a brand new PC 7518 motor. The motor is enclosed in a dust box, you can see photos here. I was running the motor for 10 minutes or so, working on a project and noticed the table insert was getting pretty warm. Being new to 7518, I assume they do put off some heat, but should I be con...

A friend at work has a fairly standard built-in cutting board in her kitchen cabinets. It is 3/4” material but they glued the breaboard ends solid across the width of the board and the cutting board split down the middle. No surprise here. I am going to build a new board for her….... I am looking looking for any tips on makin...
