What to do with this wood?

Good Morning All,

I was very fortunate to get a beam of heart pine. I just milled it on Saturday and was amazed what was inside the beam. I was told that this quality of heart pine is about 200 years old and can only be found through saving it when they demo a building, which is where this beam came from. The wood is as hard as oak and is as red as red oak, like I have never seen before. Also it has 26 growth rings per inch!! Workbench maybe or is it too good for a workbench?

Cherry Logs to Flitch

This is the pics of the cherry logs I was referring to earlier. I have decided not to sell them to a veneer mill and go ahead and saw them into flitches. I ended up getting two trees that ended up yielding 7 pcs of butt log. They are perfect! No knots, no shake and no rotting on the inside. I will keep posting pics of the process as I flitch cut them on my mill. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

First Lowback Chair

This is my first attempt at a lowback chair. It was made out of all 8/4” walnut and took about 2.3 million hours for me to finish. :) There was a thread started here a couple days ago about pushing yourself to try things for the first time. I agree 100%. I never thought I could make a nice chair like this, but with doing some history and research on the chair, I pulled it off. I would like to personally thank Scott Shangraw for his help in finishing this chair. He guided me on how to finish it and what to finish it with. Thank-you very much Scott. I think we should all push ourselves into new areas, if we do that, I bet it would be amazing the things we all could create.
