A recent project in Cherry

This is a project I did recently for a retired firefighter friend who had built a large shop with an upstairs party room.

We started with a clean slate and built kitchen and bath cabinets, wainscoting, and trim. Each one fo the panels is a hinged door that opens up to a huge storage area behind. All in all there were 34 door panels total on both sides of the room and my cherry lumber and sheet goods bill was around 5,000.00.

All of the woodwork was prefinished before installed with 4 coats of Sherwin Williams Catalyzed Lacquer Medium sheen shot with a Graco airless.

Eventually I’ll build a large entertainment center to house a flat panel TV on an adjoining wall.

A recent project using Quartersawn White Oak

This project started out as a spare bedroom with a closet. My friend owns the house and he wanted a place to watch TV that would be quiet and not on the main floor of the house. They had decided that a TV in the closet opening would do the trick. After seeing the opening we had plenty of room so they had cable and electrical ran into the back of the opening and I came up with this design. All Quartersawn White Oak veneers and hardwoods to match the house cabinetry, along with the simple craftsman doors. 3” rails and stiles and a 1.75” center stile. The TV is 42” and perfect size for the 8-10ft vviewing distance.
