I have been working on a California Redwood Table for about a month now. The goal was to use common redwood found at my local Home Depot. Everything minus the trim work is out of redwood fence slats. The trim is out of some black walnut I ordered online. Last weekend, I picked up the redwood 2×4 and 4×4 that I will use to build the base. It is fairly damp and will require a month or two to dry out. Today I started the finishing work on the top. Trying a new approach to the finishing, I am cutting the poly with mineral spirits. The first two coats have been cut by 50%. The third coat will go on tonight and will be 25% mineral spirits, 75% poly.
