Welcome to Lumberjocks. Glad to have another Member from VA. I too live in Southeast VA. I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do.

Thanks John. Do you have any good sources for wood and supplies that you would be willing to share? I visit the Norfolk Woodcraft occasionally and use the 84 Lumber out your way for construction lumber. I haven’t been to Yukon Lumber yet.

John.

Hi John, I buy most of my lumber from Somerton Ridge Hardwoods. I deal with Chris
Their Web site is : http://somertonridgehardwoods.com/

I buy Air dried sometimes from a Guy, (Jack) down around Raleigh NC. He is on Craigslist: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mat/5377272105.html
I usually buy 100 or more bf when I go down there. I like to keep Poplar, and soft Maple around for frames and draw sides.

When I built my boat I bought Douglas Fir lumber and DF marine plywood from Waterfront Lumber in Newport News.

Thanks for the info John. I’ve seen the Somerton Ridge ads on CL before so I’ll check them out.

Have your say...
