Questions on setting up a new shop area - 6 replies

Last year I sold my house that I’d built myself a building from the ground up and was pretty much set up exactly how I wanted. The move was good though since it’s more ground a bigger house and a large “garage” that had been converted to livable space. The “garage” will eventually be converted back but for now I’d like to turn the 14×24 ar...

Simple way to clean up old lumber - 6 replies

I’ve been building with some old treated lumber and found a real time saver in cleaning it up. In the past I’ve always used a pressure washer but was lazy this time around. On a quest to lighten some of the dark aged lumber I put some bleach in a 2gal sprayer and sprayed it off. To my surprise it cleaned it up very well. Also just last night I ...

Can anyone help identify this tree? My dad said he thinks it might be some sort of wild apple tree. It located in southern Ohio on a piece of ground that was a cow pasture around 30+ years ago. The tree itself is roughly 8-10 foot tall. Below are some pictures of it.

Electric Hand Planer - 15 replies

I believe a electric hand planer is next on my “to buy” list. My reasoning is that I can quickly use it to knock down the high spots prior to running boards through my bigger Dewalt planer. I’ve been looking for a while and I believe I’ve narrowed it down to 4.1- porter cable 6amp $702- black and decker 5.2 amp $643- harbor freight 7.5 amp $604...

Swing set / play set advice needed - 16 replies

My wife is wanting a swing set and play set for our kids this summer. I was fine with the idea …... then came the sticker shock. Beware cheap foreign hammers - 15 replies

Title says it pretty good although im sure more expensive foreign tools will hold up better. About a month ago I rescued a old no name ball peen hammer from a junk bin at a pawn shop for 80cents.
