04-30-2013 03:50 AM by JCMeyersIV | 2 comments »

Hey folks! Names John/Jay/JC … Call me anything but Shirley, and really even thats fine. I’m the owner and only (also best) employee of JC4 Woodworking in TI New York. I decided today i would start one of these new fashioned bloggy things. I’ve always thought of keeping a journal and I figured “Hey, why don’t i do one on here!” So here we are. Hopefully entertaining you and enlightening other new woodworkers with tips and ideas i pick up along the way. I...

So it occurred to me it saftey week, or was, or it will be… Shows how up on safety i am… But you dont need to be up on safety to know woodworking is dangerous. I mean only thing more dangerous is relationships with women that have 3 kids from 5 different fathers. Now, im not onboard with the SawStop, mostly because one day i sensed my finger was getting too close to the blade and before the saw sucked me in to chop my fingers off i quickly grabbed the blade between both hands a...

Part 3: "How I learned to stop worrying and loooOOOooove the glue!"

05-01-2013 11:29 PM by JCMeyersIV | 5 comments »

Glue… Man, stuffs amazing. They use it to build those little toothpick models, it holds toys together, the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan used to use it to graft on skin from his body to his finger tips in leu of waiting for clauses to grow. Rumor has it a lot of fine furniture is made with it! But we all know thats what drywall screws are for! Today was a new endeavor for me. I decided to make my first ever jewelry box. And i mean jewelry BOX. I’ve made a few jewelry “boxes&...

Part 5: "If cleanliness is next to godliness, then I'm giving those Greek cats a run for their money."

Todays going to be short. Spending the evening with my lady. Let face it. You and I arent so different. I mean deep down inside you dont want to admit it, we’re all the same. We all struggle to find a shop set up that its permanent. I’ve personally changed mine 4 or 5 times in the past year, and before that it was 3 or 4 times. I did it today AGAIN. It’s not that i love doing it, but every time i get a set up i like in a few days i think “this isnt going to work in ...

Part 6: "Jeremiah was a bull frog, never really liked the guy..."

05-29-2013 09:01 PM by JCMeyersIV | 2 comments »

A wise woodworker once told me “Every woodworker should know at least one guy named jeremiah, but it doesnt really matter… So forget it.” That woodworker was me… So forget it. But hey, I’m back! For now. And man I tell ya it’s been an interesting few weeks. Busy and interesting few weeks. Sold a bunch of old music gear i havent used in 5 or 6 years and made a couple grand so i upgraded some of my more frequently used tools! Of course i bought tools…...

02-26-2014 09:45 PM by JCMeyersIV | 3 comments »

Hey folks! I’m back. It’s only been months, i know. Let’s just get this out of the way… I BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! Hold your applause please, I may be moving out in the next few months if i can’t jump start the business. I guess buying in the fall when business is dead was an awful idea. But in all seriousness, I’m quite excited still. I lived at home for the better part of 26 years. The freedom and privacy is amazing. And having room for all my hunting, hockey...
