Hybridwoodworker

I have been woodworking part time for about 15 years. My day job is with Cisco as a Linux/Solaris/IOS adminstrator for a software development/test lab. Maximum of 799 days left before retirement. Then the Holly Woods Woodcrafts business will be full time. (website is down for the moment).

I use both power and hand tools to build both furniture and turnings. Some past projects include blanket chest, headboard, jewelry boxes, bird house ornaments, earrings , thresholds...

I try not to be a tool bigot. But most of the power tools are Jet (lathe,bandsaw,jointer,air cleaner). TS is Delta, as is the drill press. Both Dewalt and Porter Cable routers. I look for value in the tool at the time I need that tool and try not to buy before I need to.

Clearvue cyclone with metal duct. Hand tools are Narex, Lie Neilson, Veritas, Disston, Craftsman (~WWII era).

I call myself a Hybrid since I use both power and hand tools, make case work and turnings and own 2 Toyota Prius (2008 & 2011).
