Hi. Name is Mike from NW Ohio area. I’ve been dismantling old barns for the past 10 yrs or so as a hobby/ side job in the winters- I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I’ve seen all kinds of species, including chestnut and sycamore, which are really quite beautiful wood.
I just love the history of these old structures and and you never really know what you might find!
I do sell the reclaimed beams, barn siding, etc., and burn the junk stuff for my winter heat.
There's nothing quite like burning barn beams in the wood burner, just like my grandfather
Used to do in his wood shop- great memories! He was a master carpenter, he would
Do the most beautiful circular staircases and cabinetry. I wish I had a 1/4 of his skills,
But I try. Anyways I digress, I really like this site and I'm glad I found it!

I'm also an Amish Mafia junkie!!!

But I have a few beams in my current project that has me stumped. So I’m hoping someone
Smarter than I am could identify this for me. It’s been bugging me all winter lol. So I’ll navigate this site a little and go from here. Nice to meet y’all -
Mike
