I have been going to this series of showes for 5 plus years and it seems to get poorer every year.First year I went it(Columbus Ohio) was shoulder to shoulder for three days straight. Lots of vendors(and a bargain or two) Next year it wasn’t as much and going do...

TAMPA WOOD SHOW - 13 replies

The Tampa wood show is the 18,19 and 20th of March. I’m doing my homework on drum sanders and here’s the question. Everyone I look at(brand doesn’t matter) state not to use for edge sanding. Now , how narrow are they talking? what about table legs etc? I’m aware of “batching” items but suppose I want to run a single item say 1-1/2”? What’s the conse...

Stand design - 2 replies

I sent this idea to Delta and never heard a word from them.I’m a retired pipefitter and we used “tripod pipe stands” with a screw adjustment on top which made fitting up weld joints precise . Point being this would make it easier to set up a stand for outfeed/infeed without the hassel of trying to match the height of the saw t...

combo stain and poly - 15 replies

Has anyone else tried this? I’ve tried to use it twice and am not impressed with the results. I’ve tried brushing with a foam brush and wiping with a pad, neither was impressive to me. This was a pecan stain and maybe I’m expecting too much. I used it on pine, stirred as needed, sanded to 180(from 100 thru the grits) applied a se...

bending - 4 replies

This is my answer to a steamer /bending box. I used “dog ears”(fence slats) stapled them loosely together and used a steamer supplied by Camper. I tried 1/4 maple and it did bend but not very good. May not have got it steamed enough. I used 1/8 poplar and left it in the steamer for about 20 minutes. Seems to work good. I’ll be ...
