« Part 5: talked to city building & permit folks. no permit needed, but setbacks to abide to Part 6 of 6'x12' lean-too shed series Part 7: roof rafter and panels in, door side siding up, all facia installed, front door built »

With the use of my mini-pallet jack and car hydraulic jack…to be in city code of being 3’ away from the wall, I moved the shed. Glad I did now before putting siding and roofing up.

Per the iCreatables 6’x12’ lean-to shed, I purchased 7 4’x8’ barnwood siding sheets at Lowe’s for a price of $9 since they were on sale from $22. The more fancier siding (probably thicker and better quality as if building a house) was $32 a sheet. Lots of great reviews when used just for shed purposes with no OSB or backing.
However….if you do the math, you need 3 sheets for the back, 3 sheets for the front, 1 1/2 for left side, 1 1/2 for right side & door for a total of 9 sheets. Going to have to email the guy and ask him if typo or something.

Putting the 3 sheets on the back was super easy to square things up using the sheets themselves as squares. However, I made a stupid error mistake. I “assumed” since the back was square, the front would follow suit so I just started slapping up the front 3 sheets (only using 4 nails per sheet for temp purposes). Well, I was over 1” off at the end of the 3rd sheet, enough to where the bottom was level with the OSB flooring. Bad bad bad. I used a cargo ratchet strap and measuring tape to truly square the front side this time and whalla…the 3 sheets fit as they should.

I’ll have to go snag 2 more sheets and start the roof structure very soon. Luckily, no rain in the forecast for next 7 days. I have a 20’x20’ tarp I can slap up if needed.

LOL! 1st rule to remember, never assume anything if you are responsible for the final outcome!
Gotta watch discounted products because sometimes they are off square.
