Teco Variable Frequency Drive: Model JNEV-203-H1

Now that I have been using this VFD for a few weeks I thought it might be time to post a review of it. The sole reason for purchasing this product was to power the 3 phase motor on my Unisaw given that I only have single phase power at my location. I looked at alternatives like a Rotary Phase Converter, a Static Phase Converter or even swapping out the 3 phase motor for a single phase motor but I wanted to experience the full power this motor offered. So, in the end I opted for the VFD and...

Tom takes you through the process of building shop cabinets using practical techniques and basic materials. He has plenty of photos and details the entire process so well that even ...

100x better than the stock miter gauge

100x better than the stock miter gauge

1296 days ago by Vrtigo1 | 15 comments »

Just picked this up from Amazon last week and it arrived two days ago. Assembly took about 30 minutes and was straightforward. I especially like the adjustability of the bar that fits in the miter track. It was close right out of the box, but after adjusting it, there is literally zero play and it still slides like butter. The abrasive that sticks to the face of the miter gauge really works. I cut a few test miters and the workpiece stayed exactly where I put it. The extendability is ...

Thought I would post a review on a lumber dealer I visited today, located in Berryville, VA right off of Rt. 7 next to the Shell/7-11. It is owned by 2 local contractors, Scott and Charlie; Ben also works there from time to time. I met Ben who was very friendly and knowledgable of the instock and said if I couldn’t find something I liked, Scott would be able to aquire some. He said feel free to look around and if I needed help he would be around, I have been to dealers that all they ...

“The Tree: a natural history of what trees are, how they live, and why they matter” HANDS DOWN the best resource for anyone who wants to learn the full biology of the “tree” part of the plant kingdom. Also includes shrubs, vines, bananas (because they aren’t really trees… it’s in the book) It will give you the full low down on the cell structure and the evolution of those cells from ancient Ginkgo fern trees to complex new species of Angiosperm. Includes why the tre...

Horrible service

Horrible service

1305 days ago by twoblacklabs | 18 comments »

Lousy service, over a week to ship, no tracking number and damaged goods. I needed new bearings for my jointer restoration. Ordered online from this site. The purchase immediately cleared my account (surprise surprise). Yet a week later, no bearings. A call their “Customer Service” and the dude says there isn’t a tracking number and he’s positive they had already sent the bearings. Well, they finally showed up, as a drop shipment from another supplier. However, they...

I found this Delta Lathe off of Craigslist for 450.00.. I have been looking for this particular lathe for years.. I passed up a chance to buy one about 15 years ago..and regretted it ever since.. when I got this one home.. it was not in bad shape, but I wanted to really refurbish it and give it a new life.. It’s solid..I mean solid!! heavy cast iron everything..I could not find any of the blue/gray paint that Rockwell/Delta uses, so I completely sanded off all the old paint all the way...

A highly versatile and accurate tool

A highly versatile and accurate tool

[This is a repost of a review I wrote and posted on Amazon in June. If you find it useful, I would appreciate a visit to the Amazon review and click “Yes” for useful.] WHAT KIND OF PRECISION DO YOU NEED? A house framer once told me “there’s no such thing as an eighth of an inch.” A friend who has a metal shop told me that accuracy of 1/100 inch is useless for his work. So what accuracy do YOU need? It depends on the kind of work you are doing. Wood exp...

Charles Neil Free Project Videos

While I am not an experienced woodworker I do occasionally gain skills and knowledge. I would like to recommend these free videos by Charles. I can’t say how much I have learned from them other than I feel I have gotten more out of these videos than all of the other free things I have seen on the internet, combined. Really a first class instruction and a down home feeling in the production. Project Videos
