no previous part Part 1 of My Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Journey series Part 2: It has Arrived!!! »

After blowing up the motor on my Jet 12”, I decided to upgrade to what I want rather than spending money to fix the motor. As a result, I began obsessively reviewing 14” band saws, and I have ultimately decided to buy the Rikon 10-325 14” Deluxe model. Thanks to all of you who came before me who asked the question “Which 14” band saw is the best” and to those of you who left such great responses debating the topic.

I made the purchase through Amazon for $799 with free shipping. They said it would be 2-4 weeks for delivery and after 1 week….it finally has hit the road with an estimated delivery date of 2/02/2010. It left ‘Carlisle, PA’ yesterday and as of this morning has made it to, and departed from, ‘North Lima OH’.

I went to the WoodSmith Store last night an purchased 3 blades for it all PS Wood Timberwolf (1/2” 3TPI, 3/8” 6 TPI and 1/4” 6 TPI). Needless to say I’m excited to get this bad boy in my shop and start making saw dust. I’ll keep you posted :). I am interested in Highland’s 3/8” wood turners blade though. I do do some wood turning and was wondering if they are as good as they say for green wood. Anyone have experience with them?

Congrats! I have been seriously considering ordering this saw from Amazon as well. Were you able to get lift-gate service from them or do you have a way to get it off the truck yourself? Good luck! I’m excited for you!

Congrats John. If you didn’t notice in my picture, I have the same saw and I imagine your smile matches mine. Seriously, I have found it to be a great saw and I also found the Timberwolf blade to be great. If you decide to go with a mobile base and don’t want to buy one. They are not too hard to make. PM me if you need ideas. Best wishes with the saw.

Alan: There is not an option on Amazon that refers to this. I am assuming when ABF is ready to schedule delivery they will inform me of this option. I am prepared to pay it (and slip the driver a bit more to drop it in the shop :) ). Otherwise I can utilize my brother in-law who is a mass of humanity.

Lenny: I did notice your picture and in fact it was one of the last things I looked at before hitting the order button. It looks great (but kind of clashes with your Red Sox gear). Thanks for the offer on the mobile base. I have one from my 12” (General Woodworking Machinery 50-025 Universal Mobile Base 500lbs capacity) that I”m planning on using. However I do have several other machines that could use mobility.

PurpLev: Thanks I know where to come if I have issues. This place is great!

Alright!!! Great news ABF the freight carrier called and they are delivering the saw tomorrow (8 days after I placed order with Amazon). I initially thought it would take at least 2 weeks but hey whose complaining. I’ll post pics of delivery and setup when I get to it tomorrow night

Alan: According to my wife, they are providing lift-gate service and she said ABF did not mention anything about extra charge for it. When I called them back they are going to put it in my garage for me…I’ll have to move it to the basement tho.
