Counterboring hardboard methods - 6 replies
I’m building a jig out of 1/4 hardboard and I’m wondering what might be the best method for counterboring and placing t-nuts into the surface? If I use a 7/8” forstner bit (the size of the t-nut flange), do I drill at a slow speed or fast for hardboard. I’m going into the smoot side. Thanks again, all

I’m planning to build my first set of base cabinets (5 standard 36” for the garage/ practice). I’m wondering if many people buy their drawer fronts elesewhere. I’m not equipped to build the fronts I’d like, but I’ve seen them at Rockler. Any other places I should look and think about purchasing the fronts from...

Old Capewell Plane - 1 reply
I picked up this old place at a flea market where I live for 5 bucks, mainly to check it out and start fixing it. I can’t find anything out about this company – Capewell that’s embossed on the iron cap. All parts are there but the thing is very rusty. Does anyone know anything about this company and their planes. The plane is a...

Differences in Plane quality - 24 replies
I’m trying to determine what type and brand of plane to purchase without breaking the bank. I’d like something that can do what a jointer and planer do only by hand. Which companies make good introductory level planes, and is there a huge difference in low to mid-line planes? Or should I try to find good, used high-end planes? Any...

Transporting 16" Floor drill press - 1 reply
I’ve never moved a floor drill press before and thought I would ask here for some advice. This guy wants to sell me his JET JDP-17MF 16 1/2” DP but I have to move it from his place to mine. I’m not sure how to do that. Is this something I can move in my pickup or is it better to somehow load it upright in U-haul or something. ...

storable woodworkers benchtop - 3 replies
I have a 96”x34” workbench that I use for many different things, utility mostly, but I don’t want to build a full workbench with more of woodworkers bench top (dog holes, etc.). I have limited space for a new woodworking workbench. I’m looking for ideas on what to build, but my general idea would be a woodworkers bench to...

Molding head set questions - 18 replies
Anyone have any experience using a molding head set in a tablesaw? I recently purchased a used craftsman contractor tablesaw. In the manual it mentions a 7” molding head set as an accessory but to “see catalog.” I don’t know what a part number is for this or if one is made now that will fit my saw. Looking for some pla...

New old CM Contractor tablesaw - 13 replies
I’ve seen a few posts on Lumberjocks from other who have acquired an old Craftsman belt drive contactor table saw. I recently found one and had been looking for quite awhile. I looked at a couple that were beat to death and not much interested in restoring one. I found one that a guy bought new in the mid 90s (model number 113.298760) to r...
