Is this a holder that you use while fishing off the bank or the side of a boat??
Or could this be a storage rack you place on the wall while the rods are not in use??
Either of these are very simple projects but, any good ideas on how to make it easier on my self making fishing pole holder? is a statement that raises flags.
Woodworking is a joy and not a task to be made easier. There will be work, and sanding, sanding, sanding.
If you find this disagreeable, you might look into another class.
But if you decide to make a storage rack, they are pretty simple … Think of an indent for the handles to test in and a notched (felt padded) piece for the rod shaft to rest in.
I have made them in two pieces to fit poles as needed… (read vertically adjustable) for a wall rack.
I have made them out of PVC pipe set into a board that mounted to the boat, and the handle fit into the pipe.
might want to look in Bass Pro or Cabelas catalogue for other ideas, then make it your own.
The lesson here is to take an idea, put it on paper, and develop it into something you are proud of, ... and have fun doing it.
