    Hi Bob,

I do not speak or read German either. I wish I could. I believe German is one of the most difficult European languages to learn; Hungarian being impossible. But I was able to piece together what the written instructions were by translating the paragraphs, one at a time, through Google Translations page on the internet. Some terms or words do not translate well, but the gist of the instructions were able to be detected. Of course, all of the measurements are in metrics. Those are easy to use. I also can purchase Baltic Birch plywood that are delivered here in the States in metric thickness but width and lengths are Imperial sized. Not all thickness that the Germans use in the magazine's articles are available here, but I can work around that issue.

I wish I could find a source for the tubing they used in the slot mortiser JIG build. I think it has been manufactured discontinued. However, I am still keeping my eyes open in case I can order it or I can use a substitute. For instance, I had seen a channel provider on YouTube. I believe his name is Allan Little. He started a side business called Very Super Cool Tools. The fence he made was done with a similar aluminum tube. He makes custom table saw fences and accessories with it.

After purchasing two of the monthly magazines from the Holzwerken.net web site, I received an email to subscribe to their magazine. I did not act on it because I had already gleaned what I wanted on this project. If I could read German or encourage the magazine to print an English version, I would subscribe. I believe their content is excellent. I think it would sell well here.

    Good luck.

I liked your post on the slot mortiser like how you combined ideas to cerate your own very clever. I was wondering if you could help me as I don't speak German and have tried in vain to get a copy of Holz Werken if you could steer me in the right direction

    Thanks Bob
