Hand chisels were used to fit the 24” by 36” mirror into the rabbets I cut into the back of the frame.
Fits…
I decided to add 1/4” Baltic Birch plywood panel to the frame’s back in order to strengthen the frame. The mirror I bought was 1/4” thick and a bit heavy. I doubt the frame itself would have been strong enough to hold mirror. With the plywood panel screwed into the frame along with a cardboard backing between the panel and the mirror should give this mirror frame enough to last.
I will store in in a spare bedroom until I can figure out if I am going to pack and ship this to my granddaughter, or take it to her on my next trip to the Great Northwest.
