I had been operating with an old second hand HF benchtop drill press with a slipping belt for a while now. I patiently waited for lowes to drop their delta drill presses to a reasonable price here in my area, but it just wasnt happening. So imagine my surprise and joy when I saw this guy on craigslist!
A craftsman 17” 1.5hp floor stand drill press. unlike my last one the tapper isn’t a mile out of whack. when you turn it on the tip of the bit just spins, no fancy hula hoop dance maneuvers. All for 165. it had a bit of rust in a few places, but a bit of boeshield rust remover and protective spray seem to have done the trick. finally i can use something larger than a 5/8” forstner bit with out the belt slipping and the bit digging into the piece.
