Greene and Greene wall display cabinet

This is my third of four G&G pieces that are grouped together. Based loosely on the Bush Curio Cabinet, I changed the sides to match the G&G bookcase below it along with adding box joint drawers in the cabinet and inside the base that the cabinet rests on. Don’t forget to check out the 3 secret drawers. I was hesitant to use box joints especially on drawers as small as 2 1/4×2 7/8 but I think it came off OK. The top is a much larger version that is similar to the one on the clock that is on the opposing wall. Still not sure if I might alter the top but for now I will see if it grows on me. This was my first effort doing leaded glass and will find something else to make to do it again.

I started out getting a used furnace fan but kept putting off using it because of it’s size hanging from the ceiling in my small shop. This filter made from 1/2 inch MDF uses a fan from an old stove top unit that seems to do an adequate job. H 9 W 21 D 28 1/2 12 D on the bottom. It would be easy to take 3 or 4 inches off the D if wanted. Still have the furnace fan and will make a floor unit when I get a couple other projects done to make room for it.

After cutting a larger piece of wood into useable peg sticks for some Greene and Greene projects I am making, the remaining piece gets to small to safely push through. I came up with this a solution. It is adjustable for length and uses adjustable height hold downs. The sacrificial hold downs are made of MDF and are easy to cut down and reuse or replace. Easily and safely cuts peg sticks down to under 3/16”.

I cut the hose end off and attached to the copper pipe. One end is contoured to channel the water to the center so it can drip off the end and drain into a pan. Takes about 15 minutes and your in business. Used it last for some pieces on my entry shoe bench.

This cherry and makore shoe bench is small in size because it has to fit in just off the entry door. Made from a back yard cherry tree from my folks house. I kept trying to stain samples to try to make it look more like the store bought cherry but decided to keep it plain. Each side is from two boards and it is hard to tell where the joint is even up close. I edge banded the front of the sides by steam bending thin pieces of makore to match the hand rests. I added a little contrast to the hand rests with cherry stain. The center Tsuba inlay is a copy from Greene and Greene. I recommend a mask when working with makore.
