Free Maple Turning Blanks... - 6 replies
I had a big maple limb break out of a tree in my front yard. I’ve cut it up into bowl and rolling pin blanks. It’s reaction wood, so if it’s sawed into lumber it will make some beautiful slabs that resemble potato chips… Bowls and rolling pins won’t twist enough as they dry to mess up. Anyone close enough to Kingspo...

How to transport logs, it's easy and cheap! - 3 replies
If you need to transport a log and don’t have a trailer or log truck, here’s a way to haul your logs to the sawmill. I found this video on You-Tube and had to share it with everyone on Lumberjocks. Remember, don’t try this at home boys & girls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JukdpOusCCw

How to turn a bowl with a 150 hp lathe - 13 replies
No, this isn’t me, I found this video on You-Tube and had to share it with everybody on Lumberjocks. I’m sure this was only done for fun, and don’t try this at home, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if you made some slightly better big lathe tools. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4qB6n1cm04

Free Magazine this month - 2 replies
Sawmill & Woodlot magazine has a special this month. This issue is a free download of the PDF file. I’ve been interested in this magazine for a while now and after reading this issue, I may subscribe and buy the DVD with all the back issues. It looks like a great value for the information presented. http://www.sawmillmag.com

Heartwood Southwest Va's Artisan Gallery - 1 reply
Any Lumberjocks traveling on I-81 through Abingdon, Virginia (exit 19) should stop and look at the crafts on display at Heartwood. And, if you are a VA resident, you should talk to them about the items you produce. My home is in Tennessee about a mile South of the state line. They also have a great website with a lot of information about the...

Timberking 1220 Sawmill - 1 reply
No, this isn’t my sawmill. I just found it on Craig’s List in Rockwood, TN. That’s about 30 minutes South of Knoxville. Pictures are included in the ad. A new 1220 comes standard with 2, 7’ sections of rail and each 7’ section is almost $1000. I paid much more than the owner is asking for his sawmill. If you...

Laminated Bicycle Frames! - 4 replies
What a concept… Laminated bicycle frames from beautiful wood. This frame is made from Walnut, yellowheart and padauk. I’m impressed. There is quite a bit of information about the wood and wood technology on their website. I’m sure it will be of interest to other LumberJocks. http://www.renovobikes.com
